Onodaen is a Japanese tea company in Sayama area that was founded in 1931 and has a long history for over 90 years. Japanese tea has four quality points : appearance (shape of tea leaves), color (color of tea ceremony), aroma (fragrance), and taste (called umami).
The tea that has all 4 quality are considered to be good tea with a good balance. However Onodaen thought that tea, which we enjoy daily, must first be “delicious” and has come up with a manufacturing method that prioritized taste. The Onodaen’s original “Dark rich green tea” is made by special steaming and high heat technology brings a rich and delicious Japanese green tea .
[ Special steaming ]
In recent years, deep-steamed tea has become the mainstream in Japan. Onodaen has developed their own “special steaming” to make tea. Tea leaves will be strongly steamed for longer time than other brand’s deep steaming. Onodaen’s tea has not only a strong sweetness but also rounded taste at the same time.
[ High temperature heating ]
Heating is a necessary process for tea to make the aroma to stand out. There are various methods. Onodaen does heating with an open iron plate. This needs skill and effort to make tea not to overheat from high-temperature open flame. This is a tough process but necessary for best aroma and taste.
